![]() So... today is a better day... It's a better day because I've been feeling my feelings. It's a better day because I've been in the garden. It's a better day because I've taken time out to read. Doing all of these things over the last few days has made such a massive difference to how I feel today. And, as well as these things, I've been practicing my regular self-care - daily yoga, some meditation, walking and journaling. Making a commitment to myself is vital. The older I get, the more I realise just how important it is to put myself first. I've always known it, but I've not always practiced it. Now, it's my number one focus. I do for myself first, then others if I have the time or energy to do so.
You see the learned the hard way when I burned out at the end of 2018. Since then, I have been on a mission - I'm taking care of me. Part of that mission has been starting this blog, and my Facebook page to share my journey. My focus is on ensuring I continue to hold a deep connection with myself, in order to give myself what I need on a daily basis. Like many people, I have talked about balance for a long time, and every now and then I have achieved it, but I have not been able to sustain it for any length of time. Until now. So, here's what I do to keep myself on track: 1. Plan daily my food, drink and exercise. 2. Listen to my body, mind and soul and give it what it needs. 3. Eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm moderately full. 4. Drink at least 2 litres of water. 5. Get moving by walking, doing yoga, gardening or some other physical activity. 6. Evaluate my day.
