Have You Written Your I Want List?

I'm trying to remember when I first came across Jack Canfield. I think it was in the early 90s when I read his very first Chicken Soup for the Soul book and loved it!

Finding out more about Jack, I discovered his audio tapes (yes, they were tapes back then) and bought several of them in the US. You couldn't get them here and no-one shipped that sort of thing to NZ back then.

There is one thing I always remember and do as a matter of course now when I'm setting goals.

I write them down. It works! And, here's why.

Jack Canfield's adage of, "If you think it; ink it" has stuck with me all that time.

When I was chatting with a friend the other day about goals I asked if she'd written them down, and she said, no, they're in my head and in my heart.

Now, this is great, but writing them down is so much more powerful (in my experience). Actually taking pen to paper to do this is an interesting process in itself. What I found when I first started doing it, and even now at times, is that I feel a little apprehensive. I feel as though it's important that I'm really, really clear, because seeing the goal in black and white, actually makes it become REAL in our mind. We then have the opportunity to reassess it, to tweak it slightly if need be, and to really know deep down whether it is exactly what we want. It's important to be specific too.

For me, it can be as simple of taking literally one minute (or less) to write a goal on my whiteboard in my office when I think of it, starting with the words, I want...

And yes, that's all I do.

With each goal (if it's a bigger project) you will need a mind map or detailed step-by-step plan, but all I do initially is write my I want list.

I use this strategy for all of my goals, whether for my businesses, my travel, my health and fitness, and anything else I want to manifest in my life. Be careful what you wish for though, and be aware that the universe will give you what you want when the timing is right, not before. And, some things we are not mean to have at all. Our work around these things is getting to a place of gratitude for what we do have, and acceptance of what will not be.

Next time you're thinking about goals, I challenge you do write them down. Let me know how you feel through that process, and what you mange to attract to you.

Question: What have you manifested in your life by writing down your goals? Tell me in the comments.
