Chamomile Tea for Anxiety

Over the last few months my menopausal anxiety has become a real problem once again, often interfering with my normal daily activities; and I am tired of it.

A trip to my GP resulted in a prescription for Prozac, but I have never been comfortable taking prescription drugs of any kind, and especially anti-depressants. Yes, these medications certainly have their place, and for some they are literally a lifesaver. But for me, if there is another option, I will pursue that first.
From the beginning of 2018 I was under an enormous amount of stress for a number of reasons, and with one stressful situation, and another and another, I was just not getting any relief. I found that I was constantly felt wound up; my body was tense, I was getting headaches, I couldn't think straight, I wasn't sleeping well, and it was all going from bad to worse.

Something had to give, and I was not prepared for it to be my health. I knew I had to make a change and fast.

After that appointment I decided to try chamomile tea, after all, what did I have to lose. Right? Me being me, once I have made the decision, I like to get onto it. Making the decision is sometimes more difficult, and I do tend to procrastinate, but that is another blog post.

With my Chamomile tea I trotted off home and make myself a cup, and in the days that followed I was absolutely astounded by the immediate change, and relief I got, just from the tea. It was like night and day! Going from a state of constantly being anxious about everything to have little to no anxious thoughts at all, felt like I'd won the lottery. I couldn't believe that something so simple had had such a profound effect immediately.

The tea I now buy in bulk is Heke Homemade Herbals Chamomile Tea. This Nelson home-run business was started, and is run, by the lovely Emma Heke, a regular at the Nelson Markets where I first met her five years ago. She has a range of wonderful teas and I have tried a number of them for menopausal symptoms, sleep, anxiety and my immune system.

I'd love to hear your experience with anxiety and what has helped you. Let me know in the comments.
