Managing the Slippery Slope of Weight Gain

13/1/2020

As someone who has been overweight most of her life, maintaining weight loss can be a slippery slope.

Recently we took a mini-break and spent the long weekend in Auckland. As we always do, we tend to eat out and have a few treats. But whenever we are away, we do walk a lot more, which usually balances itself out.

After our last trip, I'd gained half a kilogram. When I weighed myself when we got home, I thought, "No problem, I'll get back on track and it will come off."

What I've Discovered About Stevia

Recently I have been doing a bit of research about artificial sweeteners, and I have found some very interesting information.

I've always known they are not all equal, however I've now learned that for some people, some can have quite far-reaching effects.

Since going through menopause I have had issues with anxiety off an on which has prompted me to look at what I'm eating, the foods that help anxiety and those that hinder. What I've discovered has been very, very interesting.

"Smile... It's Not that Bad"

24/12/2019

As a teenager I often (actually very often) used to have people say to me, "Smile, it can't be that bad".

In fact it was that bad. My mother had died when I was 12 and looking back, I was a depressed and grief-striken teenager and young woman.

Unable to enjoy life as others could, I was stuck in my pain; I had been unable to move through or beyond it.

The more I heard this, the more I thought here was something terribly wrong with me.

During stressful times there are many natural
products that can help bring a sense of peace and calm to your life.

You may or may not know that I'm not one to take prescription medicines unless I really have to, so I'm always researching and testing to find what works.

In this day and age we have so much information literally at our finger tips, it's easy to access what we need. Always remember to research the contraindications, side effects and recommended doses of any supplements.

How to Connect with Your Inner Child

Inner child work is something I learned in Psychotherapy many years ago.

We all have within us a child of every age we ever were, and working with those parts of ourselves can be incredibly useful. Understanding who we once were and how our past experienced shaped us is insightful.

Using a simple written question and answer dialogue, as if you were talking to another person, you can have a conversation with any of those parts of yourself.

Proven Methods for Dealing with Anxiety

18/12/2019

In the lead up to, and during menopause, I have suffered from anxiety, which at times has been most unpleasant.

Being someone who does not like taking prescription medications, and someone is sensitive and who has had reactions to many, both prescription and non-prescription (as my father did), I prefer to explore and learn natural and holistic remedies.

Of course this takes time and effort.

It's taken me 17 months to lose 15kg.

Yes, I know, that's incredibly slow.

But you know what? It's stayed off. And that's a first.

I've not used pills, drinks, diets or deprivation.

For now, I've decided to maintain my current weight. At some point, I may decide to lose more, but right now, my intuition is saying, "Take a break". So I am.

Many of us have limiting beliefs, and it's easy to let them get away on us.

Often these start very early on, and unless there is some kind of conscious intervention, they can be with us for a lifetime. As new situations arise, we can add to those limiting beliefs and our life can become a perpetual maze of being afraid to try new things. Sadly, we may never realise our dreams or even come close as a result.

This coaching tool will guide you through a process to begin to overcome them.

The last few days have been very emotional.
I've eaten far too much Christmas cake (it's my favourite). But, I'm not beating myself up.

Even though I can feel it in my body, I'm telling
myself it is okay.
